Let’s celebrate the birth of this new year with ice cream mousse sundaes! If you’re looking for a last minute, yet show stopping dessert that's low effort but looks stunning look no further! Ice cream mousses are essentially just melted down ice cream that is chilled and then whipped with cream, leaving a thick sweet consistency. It’s perfect by itself and with a plethora of toppings!
If you love serving ice cream at your parties but are often worried about how quickly they melt at your dessert bar, or just want a change from the regular ice cream sundae these are a great alternative. This dessert takes all your favorite ice cream flavors and just preserves them for a thick mousse like consistency!
Ice creams- You can choose 3 main ice creams to make a mousse out of so that your guests have a variety to choose from! I chose vanilla, strawberry, and coffee but you can have a myriad of flavors and options for your guests!
Mix-ins- For my strawberry and coffee flavors i added a third ingredient to enhance the flavor of the mousse. For strawberry I beat the compote in with the cream, and for the coffee cold brew, to give the mousses a stronger flavor! Similarly if you choose pistachio, chopped nuts or praline might be a good decision, or if you chose cookie dough ice cream chunks of chocolates!
Toppings- To make this an elegant dessert your toppings will have to reflect that! I chose macarons, maraschino cherries, caramel, magic shell fudge, ferrero rocher, chocolate covered espresso beans, cotton candy, and dark chocolate cookie sticks to play into that theme. But base your toppings around your ice cream flavors and what you think pairs well. A tip for the macarons if you don't want to spend the bakery price is buying frozen boxes at Target and Trader joes!
